Intro to Cutting / Make a Pendant

Ever wonder how metal artists make intricate patterns? With a teeny, tiny saw. You can create your own in this beginner metalsmithing class.

Students will sketch out their own design for a pendant, then learn how to use the various tools to cut it out of sheet copper or brass. The class will focus on designing, cutting, filing, shaping, sanding, and finishing the piece, tips on working with metal, and introduce students to handheld and larger jeweler tools, materials and techniques. Chain not included.

Rings

Intro to Soldering / Make a Ring

You know what’s cool about jewelry design? Fire!

In this beginner class, students will be introduced to soldering, or connecting metal via heat. Each student will create one of two ring designs – a shape soldered onto a simple band, or a delicate stacking ring set – in copper and brass.

This class will focus on designing, cutting, soldering, cleaning and finishing the piece, how to size and shape a ring, and introduce students to handheld and larger jeweler tools, materials and techniques.

Torch1

Intro to Soldering / Make a Necklace

A new twist on the popular Intro to Soldering class – create your own pendant! In this beginner class, students will be introduced to soldering, or connecting metal via heat. Each student will create their own pendant out of copper and brass. You will cut two shapes from sheet metal, then solder them together for a layered effect.

This class will focus on designing, cutting, soldering, cleaning and finishing the piece, introducing students to handheld and larger jewelry tools, materials and techniques. Chain not included.
